Lol you know you are in the mage forums because you will never get a simple direct consensus on any subject :)

You are so right. Even when the question is so clearly defined as the choice between pure functionality versus aesthetics

It's not so clearly defined though, because we're unsure of the future uses of the AA. As is, they already are purely aesthetic. If they change, the illusion may become a burden. Without knowing whether or not they'll be upgraded like we've asked for, we can't give a simple answer.

the actuall Illusion is an aesthetic the effect is functionality. He just wants to drop the illusion part. It is that simple.

Yep, removing the illusion component from an AA that doesn't do anything else yet some of us have lots of AA into is pointless. Knowing what the future of this AA is is very relevant to any choice we are asked about them.

Then make it easy for the guy instead of difficult. Let him make the change as defined as part 1 and the mage community's follow up questions as to the future of the aa as part 2.

i.e. "Progress before perfection" ; avoiding "analysis paralysis"

How is this a hard choice? The current AA's do basically nothing for us. If the line will not be continued then many would want the illusion to stay as its one of the few uses we get from the forms. If the AA line will be continued / rescaled then they could get rid of it as there would be another reason to use the AA other than the illusion.

I wouldn't mind seeing the line rescaled and the illusion kept, but thats just me.

I fail to see how this is such a hard choice.

For your elemental forms. Keep the illusion or ditch it. You would still retain the benefits if we scrap the illusion.
Bolded by me. Either you want the illusion or you don't. The illusion will have no bearing on the functionality. The "future functionality" of these aa's exist in the cores more or less. It is a simple thing to tack mana regen onto the ice core effect.

All he's asking is if we want the illusion or not. He is trying to make database room and that is it. On eqlive, he even said he'd give us the illusions as an aa if we wanted.

So, can we please stop all the "what if" analyses and just answer his question with a simple yes or no? If you all keep up all the conspiracy theories, Jedis is gonna have to start making tin foil hats a mandatory requirement for the forums

Again, it's not nearly so simple.

As it stands right now, the benefits from our elemental forms are virtually nil. Realistically all they are right now ARE illusions. Removing the illusion you may as well remove the AA entirely, in which case there's no point - we may as well keep our AAs.

So the question really is: do you want to keep the AA line or not?

Therefore, it depends if they're ever going to be upgraded. If not, keep the illusion, because that is all the AA is anyway. Only the most anal number-crunching min-maxer worries about the tiny benefits from them anymore.

The "what ifs" are the center of the issue, and it all leads back to the lack of communication from the Devs. So the answer to Elidroth's question rests upon waiting on his response to our question in beta - Are you willing to boost the elemental form benefits?
