I don't see how a rune proc on a pet weapon could be a bad thing, rune doesn't break mezzes, it would just generate hate on every mob in the vicinity of the pet. Pets are still limited by the agro constraints they always have had so if a PC whacks the mob once they'll still get agro over the pet, so...

I agree with pie, if they're getting upgraded make them like necro/druid/ranger illusions where the AA triggers two buffs, the buff part and the illusion part, otherwise leave them as is. seems like the best solution to make them more useful but also keep the flavor.
