Privateer and Wing Commander remake for free

Post by Calebe »

I don't know how many of you remember the Origin game Privateer, but if you do there is a free remake you can download and play and it also includes the add on Righteous Fire. I just played and won it again after all these years and it was just as enjoyable as the first time through. I was using Windows 7 (64 bit) and it worked without any issues at all. The link to the free download is:

http://privateer.sourceforge.net/files.shtml

It has 3 versions one for Linux, one for the Mac and one for Windows so whatever your running you can play it.

Also if your a Wing Commander fan and want to try something new there is a Secret Ops free game as well. Full stand alone game (in 3 download packages and worked on Windows 7 64 bit), just go to the web page and click on downloads:

I just beat that one as well. A lot of fun for all the old Wing Commander fans out there.

Enjoy,

later, they came out with PRIVATEER THE DARKENING and that is one of th ebest games ever made, IMHO, pure awesome! :)

for fans of those games and Elite, they should try the "X beyond the frontier series", smurf amazing, tricky/complex, but icnreidble what they've done, letting you build fleets, asteroid mines, factories....you name it
My fave was havign a small carrier, held 4 fighters, one would be a super fast scout, and 3 heavy fighters
you could atomate them by buying (in game) software mods
so I'd jump into a system, order the scout to map the sector then scan asteroids for minerals, and 3 fighters woudl jump otu and attack anyone who attacked me
you coudl also automate them to make 'em replenish their expended missiles from the carrier's stock etc

later I upgraded to a big bloody cruisers, 18?? ships, looekd bit like the "Yamato" battleship, fighters would launch verticlaly out of the front deck, looked awesome seeing them swarm out and ass ream pirates, while yer ship's auto guns blew heck out of things
was that well done you could set each of the ship's turrets to attck different types of target, so your big, slow main guns would only fire on large ships, and small fast firing ones on fighters/missiles

Art, D&D, 3D tutorials, and yes I used to be a magican, a bloody good
one you smurfing whippersnappers!! :p
