Roundtable Applications:

Post by Piemastaj »

Piestro just started a thread to take applications for the Roundtable thing on EQlive.

http://forums.station.sony.com/eq/posts ... _id=176063

That is the link if anyone would like to apply, you have to fill-out a few things like class, what you do ect.

Potential applicants will have their forum posting and in game behavior reviewed to determine eligibility in the program.
^ Means if you haven't spent the last few years being a complete suck-up and apologist for SOE, you won't get in. Rules out just about anyone with a brain. Goodluck to anyone that applies.

They really need a "nominations by players" mechanism for it - them choosing it soully on their posted admission requirements is not going to get the representation most of us think we need.

Hehehe, ya, I think its safe to say I'd not even be considered. If it was offered to me I'd take it, but I just don't see it happening. Whatever mage gets it has to do a better job than tulisin does/did.

I fully agree with Malleria, whoever gets it will prob be a major kiss ass and most likely be completely stupid about mages. IMHO they aren't interested in getting smart people, they want ass kissers. I don't think they really pay that much atten to the CL's (or w/e were calling them this week) anyway. It sure seems like the majority of changes that hit mages are the worst ideas out there (hello tuli / koz).

We could have put a chimp in and got just as much out of it as we did kozvar / tulisin. I'm sure we'll be tossing bananas to w/e mage gets in (assuming the pick one) this go as well.

Its pretty funny when you think about it... The mages that COULD / DO the most for the mage class are the very ones that have the LEAST chance of getting into this. As badly as we need a raid mage involved in this, SoE currently hates pretty much all of the raiding mages that have two brain cells. So no, I don't see this being anything good for us.

It's not like the only qualifier should be that if a mage is chosen that they must be raiding in or finished with HoT 4.

I get PM's and forum "!" notifications from MT members complaining about what fellow MT members post on these boards, off color comments, personal attacks, rude or condensending comments, porn, well you get the point! :) I know first hand that our mage community looks at and has looked at forum behavior when determining a person's eligibility as CR, Community Rep, RTM whatever. As a Round Table Member' main role is communication, it should be perfectly acceptable to consider ingame and forum behavior too.

PS. it's great that they are opening up the Rt to new members. Hopefully we will have a person who is able to commit to the extra work required. We all know it would be wonderful if someone can spare the time to step up.

To be frank, we have someone who does not raid in a type of roundtable and we are in a pile of smurf atm. So it would be smart to atleast try and get someone in there who raids, it actually might allow things to get better as the expansions come through.

If we get another person in a program who is in love with DSes the program will fail again for mages.

Yes communication is key...however equally key is having someone who puts their own views second and presents those of the community first. Without both its epic fail.

The very idea of a non raider getting a slot like this will be a complete waste of the slot. I'm not saying they have to be raiding T4 HoT, but anybody with a clue should be able to figure out why a raider needs to be a part of this group. Notice I didn't say the ONLY one. I personally feel they need 1 grouper (yes, even a LOSER like tulisin) and one raider. When you don't have a raider that the devs will listen to you will get screwed over and over just like we did in the last several exps.

I've said this several times on EQ live and on this board, people, look at history, if you don't pay attention to it you will repeat it. What we *don't* need is another damned yes man like tulisin. I don't want somebody that can write perfectly. I want somebody that can get there point across and that is smart enough to know WTF there talking about. We need a raider because thats the only way our DPS issues will be completely fixed.

If the events of the last month didn't teach you this, its hopeless. Again, we don't need another freaking grouper, we've already wasted that slot on tuli, we need a hard core raider. We need somebody that actually knows WTF a parser is. We need somebody that actually takes to other guilds ... ever single day. We need somebody that actually understands the damned class.

@dani, I couldn't disagree more with 99% of what you post. This post was just more of the same. If you had it your way we'd still be begging for DPS scraps off the table. What I completely don't understand about you is the fact I've seen you talk about DPS in the past, I would think you would want all the help you could get. For a raiding mage, your pretty sad IMHO.

You almost never help people in SW mage, you don't parse, you don't help ppl on this board. Pretty much all you ACTUALLY do is post up excuses for them. If you actually did anything you would understand how bad off the mage class is. The very fact that you spent so much time in the past defending the utter crap DPS of the raiding mage shows how very little you actually know about it in the first place.

The only thing I can hope for is that YOU don't get appointed to this program. The very last thing we need on this is yet another worthless waste of space mage that has zero idea how to play the class. Sad fact is dani, I know of 3-4 people that have played a mage for less time than you, 2 of them are raiding lower end content. All destory you on parses. All have far more detailed information on the class. Try learning the class before you talk about what mages do and don't need.

MODS: I the first mod that mods another post of mine might as well ban me from the board. This isn't EQ live. Mages on this board have always been able to post there true feelings and thoughts. When we lose that ability people will not freely exchange information and we might as well move the entire board to EQ live magician area.
