As we thought, no DPS boost for us in the January patch...but there wasn't anything in the release notes about anything added for wizzies either.

For those keeping score, the promised fixes didn't happen in Dec, or Jan. Here is how the parses broke out for a mage with most of his rk3 DPS spells (including pet ones), EM14, and most DPS related gear upgrades... 60-65k burns.

If you will remember this is just where PJ and I said our DPS would be with the complete *crap* upgrades we got in this last exp. Real DPS classes are pushing out over 100k DPS. The only place we didn't get completely screwed was in sustained DPS. If you know wtf your doing you can do top 10 in sustained pretty easy. Given the stupid long events I'm hearing that are involved in VoA this means mages aren't doing too bad on event wide parses. We just lose our asses on anything less than 10 minutes.

From multiple reports I'm getting back from mages in top 10 guilds I'm seeing a LOT of mages getting fully 2x'ed in DPS by more than one DPS class. Even beastlords are doing a full 30-40% more DPS than mages. How could anybody say this was anywhere near balanced?

Now we have had 2 full months go by with zero attempts to fix this, hell we can't even get a damned mod rod AA fix pushed out that won't even do that much for us in the long run anyway!

So to answer the question elidroth asked of me a month or so ago, No, I don't think you have done near enough to fix mage DPS. I won't say you did NOTHING, but I will say your efforts fell FAR FAR short of what was needed. The sad part is the SoE dev team (the entire team) knew how badly mages were behind, many of them even said mages needed more DPS on EQ Live.

Mages would need a full 20-30k more DPS now without any other classes getting an upgrade to come close to fixing out burst. By the next exp this will be almost be a lost cause.

IMHO it really is a lost cause, using what we got from VOA as an example, we got complete smurf spells, a core spell *nerfed* (if anybody still argues that the of many line wasn't nerfed your a fool), badly implemented spells, spells with insulting levels of damage. On the AA side we had to remind the AA dev to give us CORE UPGRADES to our class (hello crit mods), trash AA's that don't fix the class, and broken AA's. No real solid DPS upgrades.

I would like to point out one simple thing: mages got an AA that has remained broken for the entire time it took to BEAT THE DAMNED EXP. Just how much effort does it take to make this stupid AA work? What a freaking joke.

We were promised DPS fixes before the thread about wizards was ever posted on EQ live.... In fact we have been promised DPS fixes for several months, even on this very board.

Yes, but as far as I know mage DPS fixes have not had a specific patch/date mentioned which is the point. In fact I don't think any mage fixes at all have been promised recently for a specific patch except that mod rod specialist thing, and that didn't make its target due to apparent code bugs outside Eli's scope of control.
