Parsing on Test
Parsing on Test
Ok, so I was going to do some parsing and stuff on test, so I turn on log, set my parser (gamparse) to read the test log file for that toon, spawn me an 85 test dummy, sic goner on it and.....nothing. I turned on Gamtext triggers to see if it could read the log and GTT worked just fine. So, what's wrong with gamparse or what did I do wrong? I tried backing the pet off when done, regrouping then backing pet off, despawning the dummy, and a combo of stopping/backing pet off with despawning the dummy. I couldn't see any live dps either so it looks like gamparse just refused to read the log file. I had my options set to be the same as on live for filters, and i had all the pet dmg, misses, etc battle spam going to the window so the data was there.
Anyone able to tell me what I did wrong that uses gamparse on test? I do have eqtest in it's own folder and opened the log files from the test folder. If it's a gamparse issue, I'll post over there but I'm thinking I just made a mistake in using it so I figured I'd post here first.

Re: Parsing on Test
GamParse needs to work out who is an enemy and who is a friend so it can build each fight. Just do a "/pet leader" or a spell from the syphon line to link your pet to you, and then you will be able to track fights.
Normally when playing, a player will attack, and GamParse keeps track of all the people that have ever joined your group or raid to work out a list of 'the good guys', but with a pet only, none of 'the good guys' touched the mob.

Re: Parsing on Test
Did you manually open up the test log file to verify the data was in there?
Another problem you might need to work around (and it's been ages since I've done this, so not 100% sure how) is the fact the parser usually records the end of the fight when the mob dies. Well your mob doesn't die. You might have to enter a dummy line into the parse, or perhaps just /say You gain party experience!! might be enough to trigger the "end" of the fight.

Re: Parsing on Test
In the config part of GameParser there's a timeout for each fight. Something like: If a mobs didn't take damage for x amount of time, the fight is considered finished. I rememer to have this tuned down to 60 seconds or the like. The fight will then show up on gameparser within 1 minute I stop damaging.
Another thing: possibly not all damage goes to the log. Ingame you need to set that you want to see all the damage. I have a chatbox where all damage-spam I don't wnat to see goes to. This box is usually minimized. For the parses it will be in the log, but it won't spam me in game.

Re: Parsing on Test
I actually did a combo of what Zac and Gama said to make it work. I started playing around and did a log search of the last 24 hours and the fights from the night before showed up /boggle. So I thought real hard about what I did on those 2 fights (I made several runs at the dummy so had to remember what I did for the two that showed up) and compared it to what Gama and Zac said. What I did was go in, start meleeing on the dummy, send pet in, at end I make pet stop and say "you gain experience!" I wait about a minute and poof! There's the parse. Not sure what I was (am) doing wrong but it has to be both; I tried just the xp message and nothing, so tried just attacking and nothing.
Glad you posted because I was wondering what that 60 second thing was you were talking about lol I saw that and was wondering if I needed to change that lol It also explains why some guildies have instant results and mine take so long.

Re: Parsing on Test
When you link your pet, as commented with a siphon or /pet leader it links the pet to you. If you load the complete file again (without closing GamParse) it will keep the pet linked, so all your past information will visible again now it sees a pet that it recognises.
The time out is also important for parsing on test as you never get a 'slain' message on test dummies, so the only way to end the fight is just stop attacking and wait for the time out to occur.
If I wasn't such a slacker, I would get around to doing something like video tutorials on youtube ... but as it is, I only put up videos of my pets instead :p

Pets instead lol
If you weren't such a slacker, you'd make gamparse read my mind!
