The aa simply allows you to have a higher skill cap for a second specialization. You didn't purchase a secondary specialization that cannot be changed. You purchased the ability to have more points in another specialization.

Go into EQ and look out your skills list. You will see something like this.

Specialize evocation - 260
Specialize conjuration - 175
Specialize divination - 125
Specialize alteration - 125
Specialize abjure - 125

The 260 is your main spec, the 175 is your secondary. Buying the AA allows you to have that extra skill, if you did not buy the AA it would also be 125.

But, you can still change the numbers around if you want too. You do the quest, reset everything back to 50/50/50/50/50 and then cast the correct spells until you skill back up the way you want to set them.

i did the quest to reset specializations and it was no problem. i needed a ruby and maybe one other gem, i forget, and some pp maybe... and just talkd to the npc and all my spec's were reset to 50... i sat there and cast the proper spells for a few minutes and got the numbers up to where they could take care of themselves... and went about my day... it really didnt take long at all to get all the skill points back. it was totally worth it, and not much of a pain at all.

(someone had told me at a low lvl that i wanted to spec conj... and apperently, they didnt know what they were talking about... unfortunately, neither did i hehe :)

but its all fixed now, pretty painlessly :)

you need 50 gold pieces, pp or any other coin won't count.

Using the information here, and mostly group gear/focus, the following is one of my best parses. This is with pre-MMM raid group.

Rottrued the Twisted on 7/16/2009 in 190sec

Total
--- DMG: 16043257 (100%) @ 84438 dps (84438 sdps)
--- DMG to PC: 1357523 @7183dps

Zacatac + pets
--- DMG: 1109736 (6.92%) @ 5934 dps (5841 sdps)
--- DMG to PC: 43282 @14427dps

Wizard
--- DMG: 991851 (6.18%) @ 5636 dps (5220 sdps)

Ranger
--- DMG: 958702 (5.98%) @ 5046 dps (5046 sdps)

Zacatac - 49
--- Bolt of Molten Scoria Rk. II - 11
--- Companion Relocation - 1
--- Fickle Blaze Rk. II - 9
--- Fire Core - 1
--- First Spire of Elements - 1
--- Frenzied Burnout - 1
--- Host of the Elements - 1
--- Jolt of Many Rk. III - 11
--- Malosenea Rk. II - 1
--- Malosinete - 1
--- Rumbling Servant Rk. II - 6
--- Servant of Ro - 1
--- Stone Core - 1
--- Twincast Rk. II - 1
--- Void Shard Strike - 2

The instant cast clicky DoN nukes don't show up on parsers, but they were in there.

The pet by itself -
Larer (Zacatac) 316k @1688dps

The main thing is finding a rhythm for yourself where you are casting spells and clicking AAs or clicky nukes in a sequence that gives you the most casting power. Casting more things in less time = more dps for any level of mage.

That's almost identical to mine on the last Rott run.

I did 5987dps in 189 seconds. Seems like you nabbed #1. A wizzy beat me out last time. He parsed in at just over 6K dps.

We did a Rott hard run last night with 33 people and I topped this list this time. I don't know if you can call this one a burn fight, more of a mid range - sustained.

I managed:

4695 dps in 309 seconds without a bard, chanter or shammy. We only had 2 chanters and 1 bard on raid and somehow the caster dps group didn't get any of them and of course the couple of shamans stayed with the melee dps. About 65% through fight I had to stop a full weave as my mana was dropping significantly faster than Rott's HPs. I still ended up running oom, backed pet off for enrage and had only clickies going for the last 15-20 secs of the fight.

I also did Rott on Hard for the first time. The total raid DPS is much, much lower and took twice as long to kill him. Hard to keep that full burn up for 6+ minutes. I did do the double FBO though, which is nearly 6 minutes worth there. I had enchanter in group.

Make sure your bards are using the Aura of the Poet. I notice that when my wife has the aura up, that I get significantly more crits on Jolt/Shock line. It may be a lot of coincidence, but I popped the swarm, and when they are on the mob cast my jolt into the weave. They we hitting in triple digits of damage, all hits, then my wife added in the Aura of the Poet, of course base damage increased, but now 4-5 of the hits were crits, and that was consistent over the next several castings. When the aura was down the quantity of crits were much lower. Maybe that is a Duh! Merleena, but just an observation.
