parsing pet dps?
parsing pet dps?
It is my understanding that other people don't see pet procs as part of our mage dps? If this is true, then I am not sure I am parsing it right either, because my dps parse reading is virtually the same another non-mage that parses our raids. I think maybe I don't have some setting turned on to catch pet proc damage, as I assume it is high enough to make a measurable change in dps.
Re: parsing pet dps?
Are you talking about the procs from the weapons? Or some other proc? If from the weapons it is a negligble amount - there was a post with numbers in the Mage forum over at SOE.
Re: parsing pet dps?
I dont really know what pet procs are visible to me only, vs. pet procs that anyone can see. For example, I might parse myself at 12,500 dps, while and ranger next to me might parse me at 12,475. Those numbers are close enough server lag might be all that makes the difference, but, I thought pet procs would be enough to be measurable, if there are pet procs that I am supposed to see that others cannot see.
Re: parsing pet dps?
The procs show as "non melee damage" and 25 sounds about right. It really isn't a whole lot.
Re: parsing pet dps?
Pet weap procs are around 50 DPS, procs from iceflame are a bit less. So all said normal pet procs are around 100 DPS tops. So its easy to see how much DPS may or may not be off by other parsers.
The biggest reason mages show their DPS diff than others and thus look like they are poor DPS is forgetting to do /pet leader around the people parsing and losing all credit for their pets DPS.

Re: parsing pet dps?
Correct. Tapping your pet also does the same thing. Just make sure it's done when the parser has his/her logs on. My philosophy is that you should always parse yourself, just to be sure.Savil wrote: The biggest reason mages show their DPS diff than others and thus look like they are poor DPS is forgetting to do /pet leader around the people parsing and losing all credit for their pets DPS.

Re: parsing pet dps?
I'm actually a big fan of self parsing. Any mage serious about their DPS really should.

Re: parsing pet dps?
The only procs that mages only see is the pet cast nukes. These are not all that great depending on the pet you use. I only use fire pets for Grounds and on that parse there is a noticable deference, but on most others you see only a small varience.
