There was a post recently saying how the new pet would be worse then the old one if you only had an EM VIII pet focus. It seems that is no longer a concern if this goes in as above. EM VIII will work, so that should not be a concern during Beta to make sure it works. It has already been changed.

Also saw this and it sounds interesting: not sure if a mage spell as their are 6 ranks of it, but the name sure suggests it is: the Frenzied Elemental Bolt XLI is max damage of Changed Slot 1 from "Increase Hitpoints by 100 " to "Decrease Hitpoints by 16824 (L1) to 17002 (L90) " No idea yet but the name is interesting. The top level of this spell is:

That seems way high so maybe a spell for a NPC, but with 6 ranks, we may get to the 3rd rank this expansion which is a max of:

Who knows but interesting none the less. Good news on EM VIII though for non raiders. The no mana makes me think it is an NPC spell, but way to early to know anything for sure.

Ha this would be way too nice for anything they would give magicians.
Not sure how the math works with focus and buff multipliers but if:

Spear of Magma = Decrease Hitpoints by 15414 and can crit for approx 75k which is about 5 times the base value.
So if Frenzied Elemental Bolt = Decrease Hitpoints by 27271 then it will crit for 135k to 140k.
or about an 80% to 85% increase if my math is correct.

Well i would smile but not holding my breath on this one.

Frenzied Bolt might be what the Fire Pet is going to cast if FBO is on...

Frenzied Elemental bolt is what the fire pet casts when FBO is hit. It is a very nice spell. Going to check now to see what it's casting currently.

With EM 11 and FBO rank 5, the fire pet was casting proc'ing Frenzied Elemental Bolt XL. The proc rate was 6ppm. He cast it 13 times in 177 seconds. He proc'd 6 times in the first 60 seconds, 3 times from 61s-120s. The last 4 procs came during 121s-177s.

New expansion is a few months away. November is the tentative date. As for mages getting devastating stuff, who knows. Many of us are working on it.
