Hey guys,

Recently I've been pondering a return to EQ to see how things are going. I've got a casual geared 80 mage that hasn't seen action since the buried sea (I think that was the expansion name). I've heard a little bit about mercs and such and I think they would go well to augment my solo/casual playstyle. I also have an 80 Shaman on a seperate account but I'd rather not jump into dual-boxing if I can avoid it. Is it a good time to be a mage these days? If so, what else should I know about before digging in?

Mages with cleric mercs can solo a lot of things that weren't viable back in the day. The pet's are still awesome, plus with SoF and SoD there's some decent group armor, and some nice augment quests to do as well. You will definitely not lack for things to do in those expansions. (I came back to EQ in Feb after a 5 year hiatus ad am having a blast on my mage)
