Patch on TEST
Re: Patch on TEST
I don't buy into the fact that this somehow blocked out some other project. It has happened before that a change was made while they were looking into something else. It's also entirely possible for the next expansion as Elidroth has already told the druid's that he's done with his first pass on making druid aa's. He's way ahead of schedule compared to past expansions. It's quite possible spells are too and many have lamented the days where you fought more than one mob at once. In such a scenario, a bump to rain dps and unlinking them would be a nice thing to have. Or, maybe some interns are being kept busy by doing these smalls tasks which is good because it's saving devs and coders time.
All this screaming here about the change but not one person made mention of it on the test forums. If you are so outraged over it, go there and make a post asking sklug why such a change was implemented.

Re: Patch on TEST
It isn't outrage. Its like some1 pissed on you and is calling it rain though lol. we need other things addressed and yet they refuse to do so....
Re: Patch on TEST
Well I am happy about the rain change and appreciate it. It's too bad when grumpy people get angry over changes that don't fit their opinion or playstyles. Take a chill pill.
Re: Patch on TEST
The fact is, they promised they'd take another look at Underfoot spells after the launch, and they seem to have done this with maybe 2/3 of the classes. Mages have been left out in the cold. And now instead of addressing those issues, or atleast indicating they're aware of the issues, they're making retarded changes we asked for years and years ago that are no longer relevant in todays game. It's been brought up to them time and time again, not only through forums, and nothing is done. I think Piemastaj's pissing analogy is a pretty good one. They're not doing us any favors, but thats how it's going to be perceived. And its going to disadvantage us in the long run when we start asking for more realistic changes.
Re: Patch on TEST
Not entirely true. Rains used to have a spot in the old school dps weave. You used to lead out with rains as opposed to RS. It's been years though since that was a viable option.Piemastaj wrote:The problem is, rains have never been our DPS spell.
I'm not complaining though. Any change for the better is a good change in my book. There is no way any reasonable person would ever use this old fix as a crutch to not giving us something else. This was requested like what, 5 years ago? It is kinda like the arrow thing. Relatively pointless, but no harm no foul.
Re: Patch on TEST
Really. People are complaining about this change.
Look, this change had no overhead associated with it. All they had to do is to unlink the rains. Rains crit a lot, they are very efficient, and in upgrade-land they will do more damage.
As far as the group game, we don't know what that's going to look like in the future, yet. Nor the raid game, for that matter. The group game TODAY still has plenty of places to use them, and the solo game is the same.
Personally I like some variety - bolt fickle bolt fickle bolt fickle, oh a jolt and a RS too. These two guys, unlinked, add fun and flavor to the game.
It's a gift horse - we should not be staring it in the mouth. You would think they had nerfed something given the posts on the board here. (How dare they!)
Give me a break.

Re: Patch on TEST
rains are awsome for soloing. If/when I have 2 mobs, they are the most efficient damage we get - cause they hit 4 times.
Sure this may not effect a raider much but who cares. This helps some parts of our class so be happy.

Re: Patch on TEST
It helps a tiny minority of mages at the expense of the entire class, yea great trade off. It practically IS a nerf, because it'll be used as an excuse for the on-going neglect of our more pressing issues. Nerf by stagnation is still a nerf.deadman1204 wrote:rains are awsome for soloing. Re: Patch on TEST
Again we are not whining over rains. We are simply saying we have much greater pressing issues at hand. And as mentioned before it took FIVE years for rains to get changed, do we really wanna wait that long until we get RmS twincasted, or Thaum changed so that it gives back a lot more mana? I would rather not wait that long, so yes the mages who do not like this change have every right to discuss this on these boards. If you don't like what we have to say about it then you can feel free to just not keep saying we have an elitist attitude or we hate groupers or it doesn't fit into our playstyle. I'm sorry but EVERYONE has to do the GROUP tasks atm, and EVERYONE had to group to get the mana augs from FF and Convort not to mention the sexy regular augs from other zones aswell.
If you notice Malleria and I have yet to call names or anything of that sort, we are simply stating we need SOE to upgrade us in other areas so that mages as a WHOLE get to use the upgrades not just a select few.
