Worlu's Windcloak question
Worlu's Windcloak question
So I was working on the 4th shawl task and zoned into Pellucid Grotto and saw that I had to cross a considerable distance in the zone to get to the water area for the sample I needed. I knew there were see invis mobs in the zone, so I decided to get out my trusty windcloak from the cauldron and actually use it instead of admiring how pretty it is. So I'm SoS invis and running and everything is happy, and after 30 seconds or so I look up at my timer on the buff and see "1m". "Great!" I think to myself, "it seems to be extended by beneficial buff enhancements!". So I'm running for about another 10-15 seconds and then I see the message "you appear". As you might guess this doesn't end well, and even though I have a cleric merc up I guess I died too far from her as I fled for my life because she won't even rez my sorry butt (she was still alive).
So my question about the windcloak invis is: is it fixed duration? Can it drop early? There are several things that might have happened in the above situation: I might have read the timer wrong and it might have said 1s instead of 1m, I might have run past a mob that sees through SoS (I know I ran past a named, but I'm pretty sure that was after SoS had already dropped), I might have screwed up and not invised myself at all, but I ran by so fast no one saw me until a good bit later. Who knows. And then the second question is does anyone know if the windcloak effect it extended by beneficial buff enhancements?

Re: Worlu's Windcloak question
The windcloak is simply undead invis + regular invis combined.
The windcloak is not SOS invis. SOS mobs (both regular and undead) can still see you.

Re: Worlu's Windcloak question
No, the cloak is an improved form of invis. I've used it to run around places like underquarry and foundation, right past groups of see-invis mobs, to get to camps. It may not be exactly like SOS, but it does invis you from mobs that see regular invis.
I was always under the impression it was a fixed invis, but I can't say for sure.

Re: Worlu's Windcloak question
The improved form of invis allows you to see SoS mobs. It does not prevent SoS mobs from being able to see you.
Re: Worlu's Windcloak question
No, the windcloak IS SoS. In PG the crystal golems can see sos. Found out when my bro's rogue got jacked by one. I use that windcloak to run through arthicrex a lot when I'm feeling lazy. Mer probably passed one of those golems as they have a HUGE aggro radius. It is a fixed invis lasting, currently, one minute with all the extended buff stuff. Also, you have to target yourself. I don't know why that is but you can waste a charge that way =(
To test it, find a mob you know is SI, click cloak on yourself, then con the mob and you'll see some funky message about being protected from prying eyes or something.

Re: Worlu's Windcloak question
Danille, the Worlu's Prying Eyes item it the one that allows you to see SoS. The Windcloak grants SoS. I've used the windcloak on numerous occasions when I can't get past see invis mobs normally. It's the best item the cauldron spits out imo.
I believe SoS does also work against undead, unlike regular invis. That may be why you had the impression that it was a ivu + invis combo buff.

Re: Worlu's Windcloak question
If it was simply that, you could not use it on certain clicknar in arthicrex, or burynai in foundation for example.Danille wrote:The windcloak is simply undead invis + regular invis combined.

Be careful though, it does not work against see invis mobs in Brell's Temple for example.
Re: Worlu's Windcloak question
I've used it to get past see-invis Apexus in Convorteum, see-invis Cliknar in Arthicrex, etc, etc. It is definitely SoS invis.
Of course, mobs that see through SoS can see+agro you. This includes most, if not all, named mobs in UF.
I've thrown an extra one on each of the other 7 character slots I have. They're just too valuable.
