Is there any consensus on how much dedicated bards increase mage DPS? Like in terms of percentages.

This time i begged RL for a bard (and to keep my good enchanter). As you can see RS pet was the only real gain, about 1500. The rest was not that great, few hundred at most. Bards are still worlds better in the hands of melee than mages.

I got rank II hot bolt and maxed pet flurry. This fight was also 87 seconds shorter than last weeks because this week we were not idiots. I doubled up on FBO5 and t4 group robe click before fight. I goofed in that I got caught up in the moment and didn't notice pet was no longer backstabbing. He only got 10 off in the 4 minute 33 second fight.



I would love to see your go at the fight Malleria. During the burn i topped out at about 23k, and i am not sure if its because of skill or gear that i couldn't reach 25 or 30k like yourself.

You're certainly doing well though. I doubt i'd get much higher, if at all.

Ya normally adds cut dps almost in half. But RL let me full time named dps. Compared to Kilrek the Cleaner (where is that?) i could not get 25 or 30k in the first 90-120 seconds of tick tock. I think some of it comes to pet not backstabbing.

Okay I got up to 23k the other day very short term (Brath maybe? I dunno it was a fast fast fight could have been the badger). That is with raid tower focuses.
That's a pretty huge difference, and I can only attribute it to AAs going into Host and SRo, not much else has changed - that was w/out glyphs but with 7th year. I do always have a chanter now, and pretty much never a bard.

Only 1 FBO and only an enc as ADPS. no 7th or anything like that, Convort sleeves and T7 legs.

Oh yea, you guys suck for getting bards also.

The bard was nice, but I won't be asking for a bard anymore. They are still much better in the hands of melee than casters. I only gained 2.5k dps from a bard so my bard privilege gets revoked (cause my RL is a beast bst who wants all the bards to herself).


Thats a nice parse Piemastaj, and without 7th too. We should be fighting those conv shortly, can't wait to see what i can throw up.

Bards will add 25% to swarm pets from overhaste aura, as well as Flurries. That right there is like 1-2k dps. We give the only spell focus you get outside of Fire core and Fickle recourse. So that right there is 35% of the base of each spell. So that is 4732(spear)+2824(bolt)+ (329 to 3536max)(Clash), that roughly every what 15s? So 7885/15=525dps to 11092/15=739dps. Then Noira's on pet is another 500dps, then the +damage fire song is another like 200dps (iirc).

So right there with no short term buffs taken into account 2225-3439dps taking lower and higher guesses on RS pet gains. Now add in Epic (12% chance to crit for 1.5 min every 3 mins), Fierce Eye (10% chance to crit (stacks), 10% harder nuke (doesn't stack), Increased procrate, increase attack (help pets)), QuickTime (pets HH effect). So with all that I think you could say 3k+ easy. I truely believe we add % wise to mages the most, but as far as total number not anything special. If mages were doing the dps I think they should be doing we would rock with bard/mage but mages got the shaft =/.

I pretty consistently gain ~5k dps having a bard on burns. Be sure to yell at them if they're not playing the right songs, it makes a world of difference and you'd be surprised how many bards try to slip in a couple melee songs for themselves.
