What's the Mage Role
What's the Mage Role
on Queen Malarian fights?
I'm not looking for strats as we already have this on farm, however I'm trying to see if our new way is an effective use of folks.
Recently, our RLs have been using our mages and our wizards as dedicated maggot group. Over the last few weeks, all our runs have had a full group of mages and wizards doing nothing but getting maggots dead. The result is Queen takes a ton longer to kill, but they say it's more controlled.
Does this make sense to anyone? We usually run 2 or 3 chanters deep.

Re: What's the Mage Role
We always used the chanters to perma-mezz the maggots and everyone just burns /shrug.
Re: What's the Mage Role
Our guild uses the same idea, but you might be overkill on using a whole group of mages/wizzies. Chanter AE mez only hits 4 targets, so depending on the number of chanters you have, how quickly you can kill QM, and how many maggots you have spawning, I think killing maggots can make it much more controlled. We have a "family guild" that always seems to get that one idiot that somehow thinks he should wake all the mezzed mobs, if we don't kill them as they spawn. We have chanter AE mezz, then a SK wake them one at a time with 1 or 2 mages or wizzies assisting him, seems to keep the maggots under control without diverting too much DPS. Maggots hits like little girls, and seem to be dead after 1-2 nukes.Sillaen wrote:on Queen Malarian fights?

Re: What's the Mage Role
I am pretty sure the AE mezz is a lot more mobs, granted I did not look it up. However, we generally get 2 to 3 enc on for a raid and they keep all the maggots locked down w/o any trouble at all, having specific groups on maggots only is dumb. Just burn the piss out of Queeny and clean-up maggots when Queen is dead.
Re: What's the Mage Role
Tell your chanters to use viral mez
thats a whole lot more than 4 mobs mezzed.
And we often kill queen with just one chanter, burn the Queen down, mob up ads after, much faster.

Re: What's the Mage Role
We have Mages and Wizards kill maggots when they spawn.
Takes all of about 10 seconds to kill the entire spawn as they dont need to be tanked, and only get maybe 3 spawns per fight.
Rest of time we burn the Queen and Magicians are still in the top 10 for DPS on the parse.
So either way, Mez or kill maggots works.

Chanters get a viral mez? I know they get a AE mez that hits a large number of targets, but it only lasts one tick, so they tell me.Msha wrote:Tell your chanters to use viral mezthats a whole lot more than 4 mobs mezzed.

Re: What's the Mage Role
All we do is leave pet on queen 100% of the time, and nuke it hard. when maggots pop all casters are suppose to just burn them down then work on the queen again. If you get a GOM on the maggot kills just pop a rs on the queen and see if any more maggots up and if not resume nuking the queen. The queen won't last long and as said neither will the maggots. We just burn them down then the queen then maggots queen and it is over in short order.
So having all the mages and wizards work on adds doesn't hurt if you go back to nuking the queen when they die, you lose very little actually as they won't last long. Also with the maggots dead you have less clean up to do when the queen dies. So the idea is fine just be sure to nuke the queen while waiting on the maggot adds, and no need to move the pet from the queen as they die fast enough as it is.
Nuking the queen then maggots then queen etc.. will lower your parse over all as you switch but really it doesn't matter. If your looking only for a high parse number instead of making sure it is a win your not really helping the raid at all. Kill the queen, adds, and win the event. It will go faster using this method as when the queen dies and people got cured it will feel faster. Queen dies, no adds to clean up you can just go to the chest then next event. In the end it can save time. Just don't leave the wizards and mages doing nothing but waiting for adds. Nuke the queen when adds not up, and not just stand around is the route to go, and the one we take.

Re: What's the Mage Role
Making the parse is not the point. I make top 3 enough as it is.
The first few times we did it, we mezzed and burned. Dead Queen, mop up adds, loot and move to next target. It was significantly quicker than the way we are doing it now and it just doesn't make sense to me. I was just wondering if I was missing something.

Re: What's the Mage Role
We just have the chanters mez the maggots throughout the fight and clean up and the end. If we have flies spawn we will kill the flies then return to the Queen.
