Looking for a little advice
Looking for a little advice
Hey guys. I was wondering if i could get some advice from some fellow raid mages. I am guilded with Synergy on E-mar server. We are a high end raiding guild. I am looking to try and boost my DPS. Here is the DPS aa's that I have and the spell line up I use on raids. Any pointer and tips would be greatly appreciated. I am leaving out some aa's here that I do have. If you would like you can check my Magelo. http://eq.magelo.com/profile/1412802" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Thanks

Re: Looking for a little advice
I will post more when I have time, but that is one of the worst mobs to parse in high-end SoD just a fyi.
Also, max out Extended Burnout like yesterday.

Re: Looking for a little advice
Do yourself a favor and read/implement all of Wire's multibinding tips as he wrote in a thread on this forum. It'll help alot.
Also, max out those pet damage aa's.

I have been using the using that. I have Malo set to 1 and fickle/bolt to anothe and rs pet to a third. easy to make use of GoM for RS pet that way. I also have a burn hot key that pops FoA, HoF, SC, and first spire. I use this b4 casting Jolt after poping host and RS pet FR RS pet.
Re: Looking for a little advice
I always start with Malo on nameds then i weave Fickle/bolt. Fickle always first. Basically assist is called I smack my assist key that doubles as pet attack. Then cast malo Fickle bolt RS pet. Then continue fickle/bolt weave until RS pet pops and cast it again. When burn is called I cast another RS pet hit FR and cast another RS pet. Then I pop host and smack another hotkey that has Focus, First spire, heart of flames, and silent casting. Hit twincast and jolt Fickle Jolt and back to weaving.
Re: Looking for a little advice
I'm going to say that that's a big part of the lack of DPS (not saying your DPS is bad, just that it could be a bunch better with a tweaked lineup). You're a good mage for casting malo to start with (usually a shammy beats me to it), but every non damaging cast you make drops your DPS. It's not a massive amount by any means for one cast of malo, but these things will add up over time. Back to the weave; for maximum DPS out of a weave, you should be cracking out RS, jolt, bolt, fickle in that order with all of em multibound to the same key so you can just keep pounding away (if you have a diff weave to suggest, be my guest, i'm just listing my weave). As far as when i'm popping AA's, i'd suggest RS pet, jolt, forceful rejuv, then RS pet followed by first spire, fire core, arcaneum, silent cast (glyph or 7th as needed) and twincast (i got them all on one hotbutton).....after aa's fire, burn just the jolt, bolt, fickle weave until twincast is done, after which return to original weave of RS, jolt, bolt, fickle. For extra fun fire off the swarm pets (servant of ro first due to it's shorter recast time and if you pop host you can't do servant till all the turd herd is out) in between casts during the global cooldown period. Once you've done swarm pets, use the clicky ice nukes in between casts.Blapus wrote:I always start with Malo on nameds then i weave Fickle/bolt. Fickle always first. SInce you're worried about DPS, you've remembered to keep your pet pocketed with FBO on until right before engage, right? If not, you're missing out on DPS. There are a number of raids in SoD that i simply pop a fire pet out for the trash section, with a fully burning water pet pocketed. Let first FBO run its course, then refresh it.
I realize that's a lot of information, and you're free to do what you will with it. I just hope it helps you deliever more damage, and to get you figuring out ways to work it into your personal style and preferences. Good luck!
Re: Looking for a little advice
My weave is RS, jolt, fickle, bolt instead of RS, jolt, bolt, fickle. It's such a waste to use a fickle recourse on RS which is next in line on the latter instead of on a bolt.
Re: Looking for a little advice
Completely agreed Sil, however, if you bolt then fickle AND get that recourse, you can simply pause for the half second until jolt or bolt is back up (and it's really only about .5 seconds.) In addition, bolt does a fair amount more damage than fickle, so i'd rather have it cast more often. RS only gets used once every 20 seconds or so, so it's really cast after a fickle about once every 2 rotations. Given the low probability nature of the recourse, I personally feel that bolt is more valuable to be used first, but I can certainly see your point in doing so.Sillaen wrote:My weave is RS, jolt, fickle, bolt instead of RS, jolt, bolt, fickle. *having a bard in group, with their fire focusing songs makes the difference between bolt and fickle more pronounced, so I stand by my argument doubly if a bard is in group.

Re: Looking for a little advice
I don't and never have used macros for nukes. Over long fights I want to make sure I can use all my GoM procs on Servants (or at least procs when RS has refreshed). I am almost always boxing a cleric on raids and am still able to pay enough attention to keep nuke chains going. I don't think having less control over what I'm doing is worth the split second of reduced time in between casting my nukes.
I have Rank 3 Jolt and Bolt and Rank 2 Fickle Blaze, so I tend to prioritize spells as Jolt, Bolt, Fickle in that order. Use Rumbling Servant whenever GoM procs. If it's a fight where the fight will be over before I go OOM I will start throwing out some extra servants.
If it ends up being a really long fight where I can't keep a nuke chain going the whole fight (such as Queen Malarian when doing it with low 30s, as we're a pretty low DPS guild to begin with), I'll usually just alternate between Bolt and Jolt to save mana when my mana pool starts getting low.
