Returned to the Game and Looking for Exp Solo Advice

Hello fellow Magi,

Basic profile and play style:
I am an old school mage returning to the game after a long break. I'm level 85 and a casual player on Errolisi Marr who, due to limited play time each day, typically solos for experience and AA's. I'm not currently seeking a raid environment -- hence, I'm resigned to the fact that I'm not on the path to high-level gear.

I do have quite a personal nest egg stored from my years of play and recently bought a full set of HoT Tier 1 armor in the baz. I have 800 or so AA's and an EMV pet focus.

What I'm looking to achieve right now:
Primarily, levels and the first line of spells that come with them. I plan to do more work on the HoT progressions once I've hit level 90. To do this, I'd like to request advice from the group regarding good spots/mobs for solo experience.

I've soloed in a lot of areas over the years with the most recent being the Carrionmancers of Direwind and the Boneguards/Frighteners in Hills of Shade. As you may guess, these spots do not yield as much experience as they once did. Thus, I'd love to hear from other mages that have soloed at the higher levels and found a good return on exp for the time invested. Any and all suggestions are appreciated.

Note: As expected, I've found that the HoT mobs in Feerrott hit far too hard for my meager level and low tier healer mercenary.

For easy solo exp at 85 I went to Thallasus, the Coral Keep. No merc necessary. Good for seven or so AA on a Lesson.

Tosk is a current hotzone, and I like soloing there (sometimes with merc, sometimes without (if I'm feeling frisky).

If you can find a guild/group of friends it shouldn't be hard for you to upgrade to the T5 merc.

Thanks for the tips Goranothos. I'll check those out. I must admit that I've never spent any time in either zone -- so, at the very least, the change is welcome.

Goto Tosk, easy kills, many easy camps. Boars are the best xp at your level, and you can solo 5-8 at once with a merc of any rank, posibly with pet heals if focused. You will find it to be the best xp out there. Spell fragments are going for next to nothing in the Bazaar, don't waste money on RK1 spells. You have 1 of 2 options, either go for the easier AAs at your level or burn to 90 and get the best gear/pet posible. Either way AA bonus is really nice to 2500 now so both ways are good.

Get to 86 and go to HoT courtyard... solo with merc or group up. to do the Snakes and RotDog quest.

The progression missions are great exp at our level , Like half a yellow bubble. I'd do them as soon as you get the chance, they'll boost your progress to 90. Its possible to buy them as task adds too, if your having trouble finding a group to do them.
