new stuff
Re: new stuff
Where did you hear it is a bannable offense? And more then likely you wont find a post about it because it was all talked about during beta, which those forums are locked away now so we can not read them. And really, a 1k increase in spears overall isn't seriously worth focusing all our attention on getting that implemented when we could be getting FBO fixed or upgrading our spire lines or something.

Re: new stuff
Someone brought up that with the ooc timer we don't need a self only rod. Since I do group all the time I agree. Who sees the ooc timer during a raid event? Once the event is over yes, during almost never. You are the one who is gung ho about them changing our best nuke I just put something out that would help the raid sides mana regen since from posts and personal experience our group game isn't hurting. I wouldn't say we are overpowered in the group game we are the same as everyone else atm with how stupid easy they made HoT.Calebe wrote:Oh please do not ever ask for a raid only rod. The mana increase on spear effects all mages no matter raid or group oriented. Ask for a mage only fine, but as I said before people turned that one down. In beta I pointed out that if mage only we would never hear, well we can't make the rod give more mana back because it would over power other classes. Most did not want to hear that and instead said I want to be needed on a raid if only for the new rod as our DPS was horrible. We knew it then and well they see it now, and changes being made.
So ask for a mage only version of the rod as we got in the cauldron but aa related. Fine but do not ever ask for it to be for people who raid only. That is one thing I thought we all agreed on.
You want class warfare? That will start it instantly, and I will be on the groupers side. They pay the new mana cost and have LESS mana then those that raid. So you want to drive that wedge in deeper? You want groupers or those that solo to stop asking for burst DPS increases because honestly they may not need it? Or do you want a united class asking for upgrades that help all mages no matter your game play style? That is what I favor and always will.

Re: new stuff
I saw some posts on it on the boards where someone posted a PM from a dev and got their suspension turned into a ban. So since Eli comes here I didn't want to get anyone unintentionally banned. If you feel comfortable posting your PM's then by all means please do. I know it was brought up in beta but I would assume that since they are screwing with our spell atm we should feel we have the right to ask for what we want and what we feel will help us.
Re: new stuff
The only way I can see that working is if it was a community rep doing that because they have access to more information then the general public does. And a lot of their information doesn't always go to test or live, so it is a breach if they post their PMs. Otherwise it is all on what the devs choose to tell you, and if they are telling a non-community rep something more then likely it would get told to other people aswell.
Re: new stuff
It was a thing Kiara brought in during her stint as EQ's community manager. Several people were banned for copying PMs and posting them on external sites, and a clause was added to the rules on EQlive. I doubt it's heavily enforced anymore with her gone.

Re: new stuff
That sounds like what I was thinking of Malleria. I didn't know if it's something that is an automatic ban or a warning but I try to be cautious.

Re: new stuff
Social graces would dictate that it would be proper to run the intent to post publicly anything in a PM to the author prior to doing so.
Just the term Private Message, implies respect to a person's private message.

Re: new stuff
That I was not aware of. Never thought it was against any rules (unless you were a class ldr or whatever), especially because most of the PMs I get are vague at best heh so assumed they wrote them expecting ppl to share them.
Re: new stuff
It mostly came about because she was banning people for bogus reasons and it was generating bad publicity. So they made it a rule so people couldn't quote her bs reasoning. I doubt anyone will care if you post what a dev tells you in a PM, especially now that she's gone.

Re: new stuff
Quickly, about the rod, it's being misrepresented here. We asked it to be made for the raid because it was all we had and it was the best option under other conditions. The rod needed to be bigger for everyone but no one saw how much mana everyone else would be able to hang on to and we are now dependent on spear to be competitive in dps which no one was taking into account.
Many people are happy about how the mod rod aa turned out. It's fine for everyone else but regarding OUR mana we don't have enough and not enough ways to get it back. Also, I didn't say people weren't going oom, I said no one else was hurting for mana. They already click them less but think about how much more dps they can do if they have more mana. It's like saying we need a dps increase, we get 6k added to our dps but then they bump everyone else 6k too so how does that help US. I'm talking about mana as mana = damage not mana for the sake of mana. People are using rods and we are getting tells and that's what we want to see. It's just that I shouldn't have to be recasting an ae rod mid-event because I am out of mana and the rod is empty. The only time I get tells for a rod mid-event is because someone didn't destroy their old one between events and get a fresh one.
tl;dr The aa rods are good enough for everyone else so it doesn't need to be changed; but our mana issue still needs to be addressed some way other than the mod rod.
