F2P Newb Mage FAQ Request

With the Free to Play about to take effect in a few months, I'd like to start generating information to collate for newbs or returning vets. A place where we can put a FAQ for bare bones stuff or things they are to encounter the most.

Examples are: how a focus works, what do pets come with on summoning, how the various pet UI commands work, what pets are what classes and their abilities, etc. Yes, some of this stuff is already in the library but I'm looking for "need to know now" and "quick lookup" stuff. Basically, stuff to get a new mage rolling and so they don't feel so overwhelmed.

Things like, how to split-pull, how to tank 2 mobs at once using a pet and RS pet, what the best weave is, what clickies to farm, etc. isn't good info and can be found later.

I'll take all this info and put it into a NEW MAGE FAQ post or something similar and sticky it.

I thought FTP only included 4 classes and no mages?

Per the FAQ, the F2P and Silver levels both say: "The four free classes included with FREE and Silver Memberships are: Warrior, Cleric, Wizard, and Rogue."

Good idea, but like others have stated, you have to pay $15 to play a magician.

Any class/race created before February 29th is still available on return accounts. Also, if you read the mega thread--I won't blame you if you didn't--and pay attention to the footnotes from the matrix, there will be a way to unlock the classes. Per other games with this model through SOE, you can pay RL $$ to get a class not available to you. Additionally, those who like the game and decide to pay $15 for a full sub, may decide to play a mage.

So, a very relevant thing to create and hopefully it helps net us some more mages for the future!

ahh ha! good point! Totally missed that the return accounts let you make other classes.
