PL Question

I just came back a while ago after being a way for a few years. My mage is now up to level 91 and about 5000 AA. He does have some weak gear which is mostly HoT t1 gear I bought in baz. I plane on buying some VoA T1 gear and an EM8 items(currently have em5). I have a level 70 alt I want to PL up to 90 and some aa. I hear about rangers and sk's PL pulling massive amounts of mobs and burning them down. Is there a way a mage can do this w/o dying all the time? I have a T5 cler merc but would rather he not eat the xp but can use if it's needed. I think I might be missing a couple AE spells from HoT and UF but I can prob get them pretty easy. thx

You should be able to clear house in Infected Paw just using the pet and as big a damage shield you can stack on him. This includes for you the 89 Burning Veil defensive proc spell. There are write ups on this elsewhere. Given your pet is several tiers stronger than is needed even for there you can probably find another camp elsewhere with higher level mobs to do the same. Just ensure the mobs don't resist fire or have huge hp for their level for best efficiency.

I wouldn't try to AE mobs using this strat. Too much risk of getting swarmed. Just let the pet take the beats and dish out some single target nukes to assist, all the better if it's the anti summoned nuke to help heal the pet.

What class is the alt, are they bringing anything useful to the party?

Also, get a Whisper Steel Loop pronto, no reason to not have at least that item for EM8 nowadays if you're 85+.

Honestly I would highly recommend just grinding away in Beza. At 91 with 5kAA with EMVIII you should have no problem with the J5 merc pulling 5-10 mobs at a time, and burning them down with beam, and popping surge every time it's up for the high DS dmg. You'd be surprised at just how much exp a level 70 will get per kill even with technically 3 in the group. You'll easily level the character, and you'll get him QUICK AAs for a good while if you stop him at like level 80 in Beza. This way you get some good exp on your mage, AND on the alt at the same time. Otherwise I just single-4 target kill in beza popping lotd every day on m y alts using my 91 mage and kill as much as I possibly can before their lesson ends.

I can usually kill everything in the courtyard, and everything all the way up to the ramp that has the old SoF MMM Key mob by the time a lessons is done on the SK when I'm pleveling my SK. This method can be used for normal exp, and for AA exp. I'm on the test server, so I have a server wide 200% exp bonus, but on my 80 SK who is sitting at ~1200 AAs currently, I can usually get him about ~50-60 AAs in a single lessons, which means on a normal server you should be able to pull off 25-30 AAs in a lessons (More if your alt is closer to 0 AAs).

Is the level 91 pet w/em8 the best to use or should I use a diff HoT pet?

lvl 91 air pet is the best other 3 old pets dont compare! so yes use the air pet .
