What can you solo? Brag here!

Post by Arterian »

Greetings fellow mages!

I'm sure many of you have been playing for years, maybe some since 1999. It is amazing to look back at the raid forces required to take down mobs that our pets could solo 5 expansions ago.

Let's all share what we have soloed, or moloed (But make sure to note that), and what level you were. I think a 95 mage could take down some pretty serious raid content from even some of the more recent expansions.

I'm unfortunately only 86 on my mage and have yet to devote much time to old world farming. I can't wait to see what the 91 air and 94 earth pet are capable of though.

Yep, played since 1999. I think my most difficult battles to date were these...

Solo'd Silverwing in Veeshan's peak at 76.
De-leveled to 5, on the way back up I took on Nagafen and Lady Vox at 51. I had a merc for both but really didn't need it for Nagafen, but with Vox... I got the Vox and the whole room of Ice Giants at once. Had to kill the ice giants, gate, med and come back for Vox.
I solo'd nearly my entire Epic 1.5 at level 76, only the last two fights I had help on. 1 other mage for earth, and a group for air (final). The fire fight in Zek was all me at 76 and that was hard!

Now, at 86 I have nearly the best gear for this level of all mages (at least according to Magelo) and I've been cruising all over Norrath taking stuff out with ease. Last night in a bit over a few hours I killed Solusek Ro, Bertoxxulos, Terris Thule, and Aerin Dar. A few nights before that I killed the upgraded Innoruuk in Plane of Hate, and then went to Vex Thal for took out nearly half of the named mobs there.

I have not yet found a raid mob that really pushes me at 86 with my current AA's, gear, and pet focus. Many of those first fights I mentioned required using Staunch Recovery, perfect mana use of efficient nukes/heals and servant pets on gift of mana's, etc. If I remember right, Silverwing died the first time with like 15% mana left after a Staunch Recovery. At 86 my mana pool is around 42k, regen is maxed, pet focus X in use, and 2700 AA's most of which is spent on pet and soloing tactics. If you know a mob that would be a good match, let me know!

deleveling doesn't work like it used to.
If you lose a lvl, and you no longer qualify for the highest lvl of an AA line you've purchased, you lose all benefits to that AA line. Hence, when you delvl alot, you lose access to all your AAs.

the only thing you keep is your atk and defense 'skill' levels, as far as I know.

But yeah, you lose your AA's as ^.

I'd like to hear about mages taking on multi-mob events solo/molo. That takes skill and timing!
Even at 90+, if an event like Overlord Mata Muram isn't co-ordinated properly, mage will die!

Any event that spawned adds mages often avoided due to targeting etc. issues. I know I did. But with chain RS's, Host of elements, and all these other abilities it should no longer be an issue.

Anyone done or attempted the following?
FenninRo, Xegony, Coirnav, Potime Vallon/Innothule/Rallos, all those annoying GoD events, Vishmitar, Lethar, Solteris, TrisSwallow? How far into Crystallos can a mage get alone? What about Frostcrypt? Ture? Hangven? How tough are you?

If SK's can do em, why not we.

The problem with most of the evnets is being able to access them. What I mean by that is some annoying event is in the way that the mechanics are designed that you need more than one toon to beat it.

SK can deal with low lvl adds way better than we can, AKA swarming and abusing LT. So not really a comparison. We lack the ability to heal ourselves, so that is our reatest wekaness in any events. We know our pets can tank it and we can heal the pet.

Vish- Probably could do this one solo, done with a group and was overkill. Biggest issue is unlocking his health. With only one toon to shoulder the burden it will take forever and by than the adds might have cause enough issues to kill you.

Solteris- Still a fair amount of hps on all these to do them solo. Most events have multiple mobs in the events. I just don't see this zone as viable solo area. First event will screw you over with stacking the det effects.

Crystallos- Same as solt, just more hps. Fire mini maybe, rest I doubt.

Tris- Stuck behind sisters event which I am not sure you could do with one toon. Also, how are you going to heal or cure tris when time comes. Need help here just due to mechanics.

Like mentioned above we still have the lack of the ability to heal self except potions. Pet can take a beating and you could pile up adds on it but need to be quick to do so. Also anything that is AE heavy will be an issue unless you can avoid it. It is more of event mechanics than ability. If we could self heal it would change a lot of things.

If we could self heal we'd be invincible! Potions/ AAs probably not enough. Your're right about the multi-toon needed to unlock the mechanics.

And there-in lies the challenge... and pretty much what separate the wheat from the chaffe, the mice from the men, etc.

I wouldn't mind hearing of boxed (2 or 3) encounters that a single human behind 1 encounter was able to co-ordinate himself/herself to beat such events. Would probably have to be some kind of 2 brained human-octopus.

At the very least an ambidextrous mage who can pat his head and rub his stomach at the same time. I currently box a mage/ranger/bard but have been decimated by some complex encounters because too much comes at me at once. I'm just not bright enough to heal the pet and kite adds and cure chicken pox at the same time. But someone out there must be able to!

Molo'd these ROF mobs with an EM16 earth pet at lvl 100 and 8200ish aa's and only those buffs I could cast on myself or the merc cast: most named in Shards, a couple in EW, Kaficus in Chapterhouse, and Velishan in Breeding Grounds.

Are the adds low enough level that the air pet can stun them?
