Well played around with my EM18 Air pet a bit. Didn't notice much difference with my pet against one mob, but I pulled two and I could see the difference in ac/hp. MY pet dropped to 50%(merc healer) at one point and I have never seen that against two bugs in shards landing. Not a huge deal, but kinda sucks going backward. Almost seems like I put on the wrong earring and using an old focus. Again, nothing but seat of pants
On the plus, the new aegis spells actually are an improvement in the group game!! Now I have 3 aegis spells I can cast. Start fight with Aegis of K, and the 5 hit rune, when AoK wears off, cast the new 9 hit rune, and repeat. None of the runes grey each other out and no group mobs hit for more than the rune(maybe a few nukes, but no biggie). So I think the group mage actually comes out ahead in that area, too bad they nerfed the pets ac/hps or this would have been a nice upgrade.

You are also comparing an Air pet in the worst possible situation for an Air pet. Air pet tanks worse against 2 mobs. It relies on avoidance and stuns too much. Which is why you saw the drop to 50%.
Try it out with the Earth pet and see.

Yeah I know the air pet isn't good against multiple mobs, but I have used it before in that situation and seemed to notice the pet hps going lower then usual. Nothing scientific.
I just wonder if I am missing something with the pet runes. Just seems like an enhancement to the group game and I was expecting a nerf. It's a nerf to pets during raids, but we do get an added rune basically, so in the long run, might not be so bad.

I used a earth pet with EM18 on and no merc on the beach in the snake city against the crocs. Only self buffs and a cert a cleric tossed on earlier. Max AA's except for those added in the update, no spells used from the update. So it was about as apples to apples as you could get. Pretty much wiped the right side of the beach clean with no problems at all, didn't have to heal much - hit the aa heals once or twice, spell healed once or twice. Fought singles as well as doubles with no problem.
After raid tonight I will try and find some named I did previous to see how that goes, but if it's like above I doubt there will be much problem. So at the moment, english definitions of terms aside, this "nerf" doesn't seem to have affected things a whole lot against group content, albeit with max everything and a raid focus on the pet.
Will post observations about raid effects and versus group named once I have done that. The raid effects may be skewed a bit, though, as we are hitting the new content tonight instead of something we have done previously, so that will need to be taken into account.

The mobs in the new zones, though they hit for a higher max, isn't very different from Tier 1-2 mobs.
I went back to Shard's Landing last night and played around with an EM14 earth pet. I was flabbergasted at the amount of healing it needed against T1 trash mobs. Felt I was fighting T3 mobs.
I think the ac and hp nerf just makes the pets worse overall, while looking at T3 alone makes you think there is no difference because you think in the back of your head that T3 is omgrough, but it isn't.

The wyverns in shards hit alot harder than other things in that zone, they are comparable to t2 mobs, or even worse.
