Twin Cast and RS pet massive code changes

Post by Calebe »

Been talking to Sklug in PM's about the twin cast proc not working the RS line of swarm pets. He looked into it and said that twin cast doesn't work with swarm pets and it would take a lot of coding work to make it happen. He didn't rule it out but left it as something that would be nice but nothing they will work on anytime soon if at all.

So that is the official word. It should work but requiring massive code changes, so not saying it is impossible, but we may never see it, they are aware of it though. At least we now have an answer. So don't look for it to happen, but Sklug didn't completely rule it out.

I didn't mean a GOM I meant on a twin cast. Edited it to make the change. Sorry for confusion.

QFT. Didn't they tell us they intended it to work?

Yea, theoretically casting rumbling servant while twincast is running should produce two pets. The problem I imagine is the time delay between pet summonings (ever try hitting servant of ro while your swarms are still poping out?).

Bummer

They could give us an additional new pet line. An exact copy of the RS line except instant cast, 1 mana cost, same recast as twincast. It would tie up another spell gem permanently (like twincast does), but it is still a free uber pet every few minutes which is basically what twincasting RS would do.

I don't think that would require any kind of major coding changes.... I could be wrong though.

It would have to be on a different timer than the current RS spell so that you could have two up at once within a second or two.
Of course the Forced Rejuv allows you to do the same, but has a long refresh timer and unless your casting of RS procs GOM, you pay for the double casting in mana of doing 2 RS in a row.

Also would not be as UBER as getting in 2 RS cast while twin cast is up which if I am correct would put 2 pets on the mob with 2 more overlapping for a couple of seconds before the first two expire.

Of course the real reason IMO that the DEV's decided not to allow us to have twin cast work on RS pets is that you could combine with Forced Rejuv AA and put 4 RS pets on a mob then another 2 before the 1st 4 died.
Our DPS would be about where it belongs for those few seconds :D and very few Named mobs would be safe.

It's not like the dev's got together and said, "Hey this is way too overpowering, let's make it not work!" Pet spawn coding has sucked for a long time and twincast is new. It just doesn't interact with it properly (as Malleria pointed out), and they don't really care. Twincast actually affects the spell, as it does double the initial damage, you just can't spawn two pets at once.

Personally, I would absolutely love double the RS pets - I'm always thrilled to hit FR and see the two of them fly out together. I'd like to see it as a priority, especially if the changes would ease up regular swarm pet antics... but as the thread says, it ain't going to happen.

Even less likely to occur would be alternatives for spells that can't be twincast properly, like DoT's or some of the stuff listed here. Anytime you have RS up during a twincast and frown, think about Necros.
