Monster Summoning Pet Question from a noob mage

Don't feel bad for not knowing about low level fire pets and how overpowered they are. I didn't realize this until somebody else pointed it out to me while I was playing on the progression server (when it was new). After summoning a fire pet and watching the wisps in Nek Forest die fast on the pets damage shield very quickly I was convinced.

Oh man - at level 49 back in the day that Fire pet was a beast. It's DS was on the order of 45 points? (Sorry it has been literally years) and on vanilla EQ mobs it ate them alive - or more correctly they ate themselves alive on the DS. Farming hill giants was easy mode with that pet.

Yeah! And the huge outcry against the Kunark+ wizard fire pets!

The DS fire pets would have been much better, even with the fire pet fixes up until PoP.

That was one thing that made the epic pet such a monster in Kunark - his DS was huge.
