GoM proc duration? (Gift of Mana)

Post by Wati »

Im 71, and have tried to extend my buffs as much as possible with AAs, and im using my summoned mantle.

When GoM procs, the proc gives me 17-22 seconds duration to cast the next spell (random).

Reason why I ask is that it sometimes gives me the possibility to cast a new RS pet when GoM procs on the previous RS pet. This is possible to do with time to spare if the GoM duration is 22 seconds. But if it is 20 seconds or less its not possible.

Is it possible to influence the GoM duration?

The differences you see in duration are due to the synchronization between client and server timing. Sometimes you'll get most of that extra tick, and sometimes you won't. It depends on exactly when in the tick cycle the proc actually occurs.

Right now, Gift of Mana+ are all 3 ticks in duration. The cutoff point for most extension effects is a required minimum of 4 ticks.

Unless you have very little mana left, it is typically worth it to just throw in a nuke instead of waiting for RS to repop.

Interesting theory.

If its is correct, you should find the perfect timing to cast your RS pet on your first GoM proc.

For example, If I cast my RS pet when I have 7, 13 or 19 seconds left on my GoM proc, I might end up always having 22 seconds to recast RS if GoM procs a second time.

This since your first GoM is timed with the tic, and you just have to time it to get the maximum time on your second GoM. Its just about timing.

I will have to experiment with this...

except that from your point of view, it's entirely random.....

Either way though, like I said before, your DPS will just be gimped if you wait to cast your next RS pet......

i finally gave in and seasoned to 72nd now after fetching roughly 450 AAs in PAW... i tried working the math and the timing between GoM and RS but gave up. i'd sit there all excited with 22 seconds counting down only to have it fade at 7 seconds, ACK!

i've noticed that RS can pull most elementals in PAW down to 50% on its own, apart from the beefier earth elementals. if i was lucky enough to score that second free shot, thanks to GoM, with RS while my target was well on its way to death, say <40%, i'd send it over to my next target while trying to maximize it's life. alternatively, i'd drop my Bolt of Molten Slag and cross my fingers for a nice big crit to finish off the target.

i know, not terribly scientific for a Magician but sometimes i'm influenced by a certain ogre warrior and just want to smash or blow things up lol...
