I have a question for any mages who were around back when the 1.5 epic quests were released. How did the mage community figure out the specifics on how to trigger the air elemental in Noble's Causeway? I did that fight last night but used Allakhazam's to get the map waypoints for the possible trigger points. I can't imagine ever figuring that out for myself without a spoiler. Someone had to do it though so I'm wondering how they figured it out. Did someone from SOE provide hints to beta testers so that when the 1.5 epic quests went live, a few mages already knew how to complete it?
Thanks
Curiosity about 1.5 epic fight
Re: Curiosity about 1.5 epic fight
My guess is a lot of frustrated mages, with a full raid in tow most likely were frantically running around and found them by chance.
Re: Curiosity about 1.5 epic fight
After killing Akkastaff, Allakhazam lists this: "The last part of this quest is to go find the four Elemental Essences that Bantil speaks off. Talk to the guardians of the Elemental Planes in Plane of Tranquility for clues on where they're located. "
From there, people just got to looking from the information the 4 guardians gave. There is always deaths involved in this type of stuff, lol.

Re: Curiosity about 1.5 epic fight
I did the epic fairly early, before any full spoilers was posted anywhere. There was a huge information gathering done by mages everywhere, channel on game was bustling with rumors and info, everyone was running here and there. The old mage tower also had a multi paged thread with stuff people found out as it all progressed.
I was (and am still) hugely impressed with the lore and ingenuity behind the epic quest. It's sad that quests like that are deemed to much work these days, I do understand the reason they do not want to make more 'epics' but it still saddens me.
I also did my very first mage epic back when Kunark was shipped, that was much much harder than epic 1.5-2.0-2.5, plane of hate and plane of sky was so hard compared to anything I ever encountered in the later epic quests. But smurf, the day i summoned my first epic pet and get to use it in combat I was astounded.
Oh and I used epic pet in duels and pvp (on blue servers) and believe me I won a lot more fights than I lost (except against druids and mages, banishment was so nasty against mage/necro pets).
So I don't think any one mage can take credit for solving any of the mage epics, it was a community effort with literally 100s of mages on all servers who (I bet) had tons of fun and tons of frustrations.
And I think the same can be said for all classes.
