How much importance do you put on spell damage?

Example: Would you upgrade an item for an extra 80 mana if you were losing 8 spell dmg, everything else considered equal? Where would you put the tradeoff?

The answer is going to vary based on whom is answering. I have more than enough mana for raiding most targets, so i'd probably put the balance point at about 20:1. If I only had 20k as a mana pool, i'm sure my answer would be very different, perhaps as high as 5:1.
