Raiding Mage Parses

Post by Laldyen_Mage »

I was just wondering if some of you raiding mages could list parses on full burn mobs like Oomk (tower) so that I could see if I am doing what I do right or if i should try to rework my burn to make it better.

Thanks

There's a bunch of stuff in the Class Balance forum in the thread called "The Parse"...there also is a thread called something like "100 second burn" over at SOE in the Magician Library forum.

Yes I have actually read some of those and tried them out but just trying to see a more broad look at mages and their actual DPS... So just trying to see where I am standing when doing these burns

you also have to factor in raid dps, if your raid dps sucks, its going to take longer to kill thus killing your 'dps' . Your better to balance your dps insight also with total dmg done.

I've found accurate parsing to be difficult lately with a lack of true "burn mobs" in my current SoD raiding level. Everything is so scripted with stops and starts and adds that you must switch to. We do Pallo, Venom Lord, Mindshear, and now Mindblight, weekly. Other raids like RR or Crystal Core occasionally.

I've parsed things like Pallo, but it is such a long fight with stops and starts that you really just go by total damage done rather than "dps". We had a monk post the final mob in Mindshear event parse where the 4 monks were in the top of list because all the casters were low on mana by the time we get to that point. Unless I pop Staunch AA I can't compete with only 25% mana to start out.

Other problems occur on events where your spacing is to far away from the mob to get the proper info. You don't get to see all your pet hits unless you stay close to the mob. I've seen other people parse me higher than I parsed myself at times, because I'm missing some pet hits.

Crystal Core is a good one to parse the named...in tower, event 5 is another one that's good, as is the scryer event (event 4) because you have 4 separate named you can do a parse on. Fippy is good in UF because you can parse the stages separately because his name changes each stage.

Another thing to keep in mind is group makeup will affect your parses quite a lot. If you aren't with the proper support classes your output will suffer quite a lot.

Any event where you are switching to the adds and back to named all the time doesn't parse so well.
