How to do the BB raid?

Post by dduble07 »

Gonna do the BB raid and was looking for information on how to do it. The minimum number of people you'd suggest, the tank needed to tank the last mob, how long does raid take, is it the easiest raid in sod(easier then the queen) everything

Well, First thing to know: Rottrued randomly buffs himself and one of those buffs is a rape mode but it's rare he hits that one first. Also, the longer you take to kill Rottrued, the stronger he gets so go full bore on him from the get go. We usually med to full before engaging him. Do a count down, MT calls assist, raid opens up...nice parse mob. You are only allowed 7? at a totem but 6 is more than enough and pets count as someone at the totem. Is it the mundunugu that is killed last? Check alla, there's a mob at each totem that must be killed at the same time or within a minute of each other. What we do, we dps the first two down, then get 3rd to 10% then snare/mez/root the mob. Once all to 10%, call it and burn them. You'll want some kind of tank there but they aren't really much harder than the mobs from the static zone. The problem is you have to stay by your totem. When you get to Rottrued, med, max debuff, and drop an a-bomb on his azz for the win.

Once you've done it a few times, you'll realize the hardest part is getting peeps to the totems without them getting lost. We've lost an entire hour of raids once waiting for numbnuts to find their way to totems and that's not an exaggeration. Raid leader almost called it when the last 3 finally made it to camp when he mentioned calling it lol

The hardest part of the raid is making the 8 groups.

Each of the 8 totems will spawn 3 mobs. You can only have 1 group at each totem. You can't have more than 7, and pets count, so a full group + 1 mage pet = 7, and do not use any swarm pets. Kill 2 mobs that are not the Mundunugu. The Mundunugu at all 8 totems has to die about the same time.

How you make up each group depends on your raid, but just know you have to deal with 3 mobs in a very small space.

Group 1 has enchanter to mez
Group 2 has a bard to mez
Group 3 has a beefy tank, cleric, shaman, no mez. shaman can VP the mundunugu while tank tackles the other 2 mobs at once.
Group 4 has a beefy tank, healer, and a mage willing to use pet to offtank the mundungu (that would be me).
Group 5 has a beefy tank, healers, and a necro that can use the undead mez on 1 of the 3 mobs while tank is on the other 2.
etc.
etc.
etc.

Any of the 8 groups fail, you lose. Exit out, restart the instance, try again.

If you are short on groups for the totems but have a few mages, you can use them. Out of necessity, we tossed 3 mages at a totem one night and it went so easy that now 1 totem can be handled by me, a healer and any other ranged dps.

Also, they can all be stunned so pallys work great for tanking these.

Can't give you numbers, but I can literally tank them myself. Not the pet, but myself with a healer.

you have unbuffed 40k mana, and this is their first go at this so i doubt he'll be tanking them very well :P.

its not an automatic loss if a group wipes, you have 15 or 20 min from when they spawn till task fail, if rest of the groups are stable, some classes can drop agro(to not spawn more adds at your totem when they leave) and go mop up the mess at dead group.

40k mana is nice, but doesn't really help on tanking. Was really just trying to make the point that if a silky can reasonably tank the mobs (even if towered geared) than a t5 group geared knight, or a ranger with a few t3 raid bits should be more than adequate to tank the totem mobs.

aye yer right, mana doesnt have anything to do with tanking, it was just a reference point in saying how huge of a difference there is in your gear and his. You say there isnt a big difference, perhaps not if he joined your guild to do the event. makes a big difference if your just now breaking into tier 1 sod raids, could mean many things, low pop or a non cohesive raid group(if your healers arent on the ball you wont be tanking the totem mobs long in group gear).
